Leisure Team Leader

About the role

Southwark Council is seeking a motivated Leisure Team Leader to oversee daily operations at its brand‑new leisure centre. You will ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while delivering excellent customer experiences for the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and security across all areas of the centre.
• Provide visible, effective leadership to a team of Recreation Assistants, driving performance and adherence to procedures.
• Deliver top‑notch customer service, handling queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Support the Duty Manager with operational standards, record‑keeping and financial procedures.
• Ensure the centre opens on time and closes securely each day, following all protocols.
• Communicate effectively with the Line Manager and team to ensure smooth shift transitions.
• Assist with training and development initiatives for team members.
