Level 3 Teaching Assistant – ARMS Department (Full‑Time, Sep start)

About the role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join the ARMS department of a growing primary school in Gateshead from September. The role supports pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, regulate emotions and develop independence in a safe, structured environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils within the ARMS department.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering learning activities.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and engagement in lessons.
• Use a calm, consistent and nurturing approach to behaviour support.
• Encourage independence while providing appropriate scaffolding.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and external professionals.
• Contribute to a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable.
• Patience, resilience and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children and staff.
• Team‑oriented and able to follow clear guidance.
