Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Year 5 (Nelson)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 classroom in a friendly primary school in Nelson. The role starts in September 2026 and offers full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday hours (8:30 am‑3:30 pm). You will work closely with the class teacher to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils in whole‑class and small‑group learning activities.
• Assist the teacher in delivering engaging lessons and targeted interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour and classroom engagement.
• Cover PPA sessions when required, delivering pre‑planned lessons and managing the class.
• Help create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

Required profile

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a primary school setting.
• Confidence in leading a class and covering PPA sessions.
• Strong classroom management abilities.
• Enthusiastic, reliable, adaptable with excellent communication and teamwork.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
