Liability Claims Handler – Insurance

About the role

We are partnering with a leading insurance and claims solutions provider to recruit a Liability (Casualty) Claims Handler for their West Midlands office. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work from home while being based in Tamworth and commuting from surrounding towns.

Key responsibilities

• Handle and investigate EL (Employers’ Liability) and PL (Public Liability) insurance claims from first notification through to settlement.
• Review, record and manage claims in line with policy and compliance standards.
• Gather evidence, adjust reserves and clearly explain liability decisions.
• Negotiate settlements within authorised limits.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, solicitors and third‑party representatives.
• Respond promptly and professionally to written and telephone enquiries.
• Provide general administrative support to colleagues as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling EL and PL insurance claims.
• Ability to assess liability, coverage and recovery opportunities.
• Knowledge of reserving principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Well‑organised with the ability to manage your own caseload.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Experience with casualty insurance claim investigations.
• Understanding of liability assessment and reserving.
