Liability Lawyer – Property Risks & Coverage

About the role

Keoghs LLP, a leading UK insurance law firm, is seeking a skilled liability lawyer to join its Property Risks and Coverage team in Bolton. The role focuses on defended liability and quantum claims for major insurers, covering a range of property damage and nuisance disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Review documents, prepare reports and manage disclosure
• Assess witness and expert evidence, conduct investigations and instruct counsel
• Draft court documents, attend conferences and trials, and handle routine correspondence
• Negotiate settlements, including Part 36 offers, and prepare pre‑action and interim applications
• Prepare trial bundles, assist with ADR (mediation), and conduct advocacy by phone and in person
• Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations

Required profile

• Previous litigation experience, preferably with property insurance claims
• Strong knowledge of liability, breach of contract, negligence and subrogated claims
• Ability to prioritise workload, pay attention to detail and work with case‑management systems
• Capacity to record time, consider claim profitability and manage fast‑pace litigation
• Degree‑level education in Law (or postgraduate qualification)
