Licensing Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Licensing Team Leader to join our Regulatory Services team in Welwyn Garden City. You will lead a small team responsible for a range of licensing areas, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and delivering high‑quality enforcement outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee licensing administration and enforcement across sectors such as taxi, alcohol, sexual entertainment venues, pavement, animal activities and gambling.
• Prioritise and reprioritise workloads to meet statutory deadlines while maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate effectively with the public, colleagues, and business stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and safe recruitment practices.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education or extensive relevant experience in licensing, administration or regulatory enforcement.
• Proven experience working within licensing and regulatory services.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK licensing legislation across multiple sectors.
• Effective record‑keeping and note‑taking capabilities.
• Ability to interpret and apply legal processes related to enforcement.
