Life Underwriter / Senior Underwriter

About the role

I am partnering with a leading UK life and pensions insurer who are looking to grow their Underwriting team. This role offers remote working and the chance to be part of a great team. With a focus on new business, you’ll contribute to the successful management and growth of the portfolio and support new business projects, including product initiatives, process improvements and service enhancements. Products include life insurance, critical illness and income protection.

Key responsibilities

• Assess new business applications and make underwriting decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, customers and intermediaries.
• Represent the team on projects such as product initiatives and service improvements.
• Review and interpret medical, financial, occupational, lifestyle and other relevant evidence when assessing individual risks.
• Work closely with colleagues across underwriting and other business areas.

Required profile

• Underwriting experience with strong knowledge of at least one of: Life, Critical Illness or Income Protection.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing applications and supporting documentation.
• Good understanding of medical and/or financial risk assessment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
