Lifeguard – Kings Hedges Learner Pool

About the role

GLL is seeking enthusiastic Lifeguards to join the team at Kings Hedges Learner Pool in Cambridge. This role offers a blend of poolside supervision, customer interaction, and support for the wider leisure centre, providing a solid foundation for a career in safety and community service.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through regular pool shifts, ensuring a safe swimming environment.
• Supervise swimmers, enforce pool rules, and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool area and surrounding facilities.
• Set up and check pool equipment before each session.
• Deliver first‑class customer service and address visitor queries.
• Assist with the preparation and upkeep of studios, gyms, and sports halls when not on pool duty.

Required profile

• Calm under pressure with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Friendly, approachable attitude towards people from all backgrounds.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.
• Team‑player mindset with a can‑do attitude.

Required skills

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or willingness to obtain it after a swim test.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
