Lifting Equipment Engineer

About the role
We are seeking a Lifting Equipment Engineer to join a leading engineering business that services, maintains, inspects, repairs, installs and commissions lifting equipment for industrial customers across the South of England. The role involves working on a variety of lifting devices, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
Key responsibilities
- Service, maintain, inspect and repair a wide range of lifting equipment, including overhead cranes and hoists.
- Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding on motors, drives, control systems, brakes, limit switches and safety devices.
- Install, commission and upgrade lifting equipment at customer sites.
- Carry out LOLER inspections and ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency call‑outs across multiple sites.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection documentation and technical paperwork.
- Work safely in line with company procedures and industry regulations while delivering excellent customer service.
Required profile
- Previous experience with lifting equipment, overhead cranes, hoists or similar industrial machinery.
- Strong electrical fault‑finding skills, including three‑phase systems and industrial controls.
- Good mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Professional, reliable and safety‑conscious attitude.
- NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
