Linux Engineer – Global Hedge Fund (London/NYC)

About the role

The hedge fund is expanding its trading infrastructure and needs a pragmatic Linux Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a high‑performance Linux environment across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and execute strategic changes to the Linux platform supporting low‑latency trading applications.
• Automate deployment and configuration using Python, Ansible, and optionally Nix/NixOS.
• Maintain and optimise networking, storage, and clustering components for co‑location sites.
• Perform performance analysis and kernel tuning to meet latency requirements.
• Collaborate with software teams to support new trading types and deployment mechanisms.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on Linux administration experience.
• Experience with both Debian‑based and RHEL‑based distributions.
• Strong background in performance analysis, kernel tuning, and low‑latency systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Previous exposure to financial services is a plus.
