Linux SysAdmin Engineer – RHEL (Remote, £385/day)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Linux SysAdmin Engineer specialising in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to join a leading client on a 6‑12 month contract. The role is remote‑eligible and focuses on maintaining a secure, reliable and highly available Linux infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimise RHEL environments.
• Configure and manage virtualised infrastructure using KVM.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for automation and configuration management.
• Handle patching, provisioning and lifecycle activities via Red Hat Satellite.
• Create and maintain Shell/Bash scripts to automate operational tasks.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Support system upgrades, deployments and infrastructure improvements.
• Collaborate with security, development and delivery teams to ensure platform stability and compliance.
• Contribute to operational documentation, standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong experience administering RHEL environments.
• Advanced Linux command‑line proficiency.
• Proven Shell/Bash scripting experience for automation.
• Hands‑on experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Experience managing virtualisation platforms, particularly KVM.
• Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite for patching and provisioning.
• Solid troubleshooting and performance‑tuning skills.
• Experience supporting enterprise‑scale production systems.
• Understanding of security, patch management and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile or project‑based setting.
