Linux System Administrator

About the role

Market‑leading EdTech SaaS business in Bristol is seeking a Linux System Administrator. The role is primarily remote with attendance at the Bristol office five days per month, joining an experienced agile team supporting two products used by over 50 UK higher‑education institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑call incident response and day‑to‑day monitoring of SaaS platforms.
• Plan, test, and develop infrastructure improvements and automation.
• Deploy, maintain and enhance backend infrastructure using modern frameworks.
• Manage end‑to‑end security and operations of the SaaS environment.
• Build, maintain and document internal tools for development and implementation teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Linux Sysadmin, DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Ubuntu/Debian systems and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with technical documentation and cloud‑based SaaS monitoring.
• Ability to handle on‑call incident management and support tasks.

• Scripting languages: Bash, Python, PHP, PowerShell, Ruby
• Version control with Git/GitHub
• Monitoring of SaaS systems in the cloud
