Litigation Lawyer – In‑House (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join the dynamic in‑house legal team of a busy London borough council. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work both from the office and remotely while handling a varied caseload of civil, criminal and judicial review matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of criminal and civil litigation cases under the supervision of a Senior Lawyer.
• Conduct judicial review proceedings and represent the authority in court.
• Provide legal advice to council members, officers and committees, including licensing panels.
• Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements and other legal documents.
• Negotiate settlements and attend relevant meetings and hearings.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with solid experience in litigation, preferably within a public‑sector or private‑practice environment.
• Demonstrated ability to handle both civil and criminal matters and judicial review cases.
• Familiarity with at least three of the following areas: homelessness, prosecutions, licensing, judicial review, education, litigation, or no recourse to public funds.
• Strong analytical, research and communication skills.
• Willingness to work on‑site at least two days per week.
