Litigation Lawyer

About the role

The Litigation Lawyer will join a team of legal professionals supporting UK Government departments. You will advise ministers and senior officials, provide guidance on complex legal matters, and manage a varied caseload across litigation, advisory, commercial and employment law.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality legal advice to government ministers and departmental officials.
• Draft and review legal documents, opinions and briefing notes.
• Manage litigation matters from inception through to resolution.
• Collaborate with colleagues across different legal specialties, including commercial, employment and EU legislation.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines.

Required profile

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Ability to think strategically and creatively about legal issues.
• Strong analytical judgment and the confidence to give balanced, risk‑based advice.
• Open‑minded, impartial and able to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to develop skills across multiple areas of law.
