LMFX Trader – Associate/VP or Director

About the role

Citi’s Markets division is seeking an experienced Local Market FX (LMFX) trader to join its London trading desk at the Vice President level. The role involves autonomous market‑making across spot, forward and swap books, while contributing to the desk’s profitability and electronic trading evolution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage primary market‑making for LMFX spot, forward and swap books, taking intra‑day and overnight risk within defined limits.
• Provide coverage and backup for selected Local Markets FX books, ensuring consistent risk management.
• Collaborate with e‑trading and quantitative teams to monitor internalisation rates, optimise pricing engines and execution algorithms.
• Build and maintain client relationships alongside FX Sales, delivering market colour, trade ideas and content.
• Uphold governance and controls by working closely with Legal, Compliance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Audit and Finance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an LMFX trader with a strong understanding of market micro‑structure and client flow dynamics.
• Ability to operate autonomously within a defined risk framework.
• Demonstrated track record of contributing to desk P&L and commercial performance.
