Local Authority Homelessness Prevention & Solutions Officer (North London)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Local Authority Homelessness Prevention & Solutions Officer to join our North London team. The role involves providing specialist housing advice and support to homeless clients, ensuring compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver housing advice through rota duties, interviews, duty line, and electronic enquiries.
• Assess clients' housing and financial needs, creating and updating Personal Housing Plans.
• Manage caseloads and conduct statutory assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Guide clients on the rental market, benefits, and tenancy options, assisting with securing tenancies.
• Support resettlement by signposting to relevant agencies and maintaining strong client relationships.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of housing legislation, homelessness policy, and prevention tools.
• Understanding of housing benefit rules, supply/demand dynamics, and eviction processes.
• Experience advising vulnerable clients, conducting interviews, and handling sensitive information.
• Skilled in negotiation, advocacy, mediation, and accurate record‑keeping.
• Ability to meet performance targets and interpret complex legislation quickly.
