About the role

The Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital is one of the busiest in the South of England. This fixed‑term, one‑year position offers a qualified doctor the chance to deliver acute care, support junior staff and take part in a strong education programme within a newly built BBEC facility.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform rapid initial assessment and triage of patients presenting with acute or life‑threatening conditions.
  • Deliver immediate diagnosis and treatment, including medication administration and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor and stabilise unstable patients, coordinating with specialists as required.
  • Collaborate closely with ED nurses, consultants and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient encounters and outcomes.
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans and possible outcomes clearly to patients and families.
