Locum Consultant – Trauma & Orthopaedic (Lower Limb)

About the role

The Trust is seeking a locum consultant to deliver high‑quality lower‑limb orthopaedic care across its West Middlesex and Chelsea & Westminster sites. The role focuses on elective recovery and trauma services for hip, knee and related musculoskeletal conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑led assessment, diagnosis and management of hip, knee and soft‑tissue injuries, including multi‑ligament injuries.
• Deliver elective and trauma surgery in outpatient clinics, operating theatres and inpatient wards, covering periprosthetic and complex femoral fractures.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, on‑call rotas and service planning.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, service development and teaching of junior staff.
• Manage fracture clinics, main theatre sessions, ward rounds and allocated administrative duties.

Required profile

• Consultant‑level orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in lower‑limb trauma and elective procedures.
• Ability to work across multiple sites and adapt to flexible scheduling.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care, safety and continuous improvement.
