About the role
This is a two‑year fixed‑term locum position for a Consultant Gastroenterologist covering the Western General Hospital and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The role supports a growing endoscopy and outpatient workload and helps meet national waiting‑time targets.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver up to four endoscopy lists per week, performing both upper and lower GI procedures.
- Run outpatient clinics and provide inpatient gastroenterology care.
- Contribute to out‑of‑hours GI emergency cover.
- Undertake sessional commitments at other NHS Lothian sites as required.
Required profile
- Fully trained and competent in both upper and lower GI endoscopy.
- Willingness to work across multiple hospital sites without a General Internal Medicine commitment.
