Locum Optometrist – New Store Opening in Colchester

About the role

This temporary position supports the launch of a brand‑new optical store in Colchester, Essex. Zest Optical is introducing a fresh, community‑focused eye‑care concept and needs qualified optometrists to deliver high‑quality patient care during the opening phase.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive sight tests and provide accurate prescriptions.
• Deliver a warm, patient‑centred experience aligned with the brand’s values.
• Assist in setting up clinical workflows and equipment in the new practice.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to refine service standards.
• Support flexible scheduling, including regular weekly days or block bookings.

Required profile

• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
• Passionate about community eye care and patient interaction.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, retail‑oriented environment.
• Enthusiastic about contributing to a start‑up optical concept.

Required skills

• Proficiency in conducting refraction and visual acuity assessments.
• Experience using modern optometric diagnostic equipment.
