Locum Senior Planning Solicitor – £75/hr (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive to join a South West local authority on a locum basis as a Senior Planning Solicitor. The role is primarily remote, with a monthly on‑site planning committee attendance, and offers up to £75 per hour on an umbrella arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality legal advice on all aspects of planning law.
• Draft and review Section 106 agreements, development management documents and planning enforcement notices.
• Support the preparation and implementation of Local Plans and the Community Infrastructure Levy.
• Represent the authority in negotiations with third parties and attend planning committee meetings once per month.
• Supervise junior staff and manage a varied caseload of planning matters.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with solid experience in local authority planning.
• Proven track record of attending and contributing to planning committee meetings.
• Ability to work independently on a full‑time (37 hours) basis, with part‑time consideration.
