About the role
We are seeking a passionate Supply English Teacher to join a high‑achieving secondary school in Durham. The role runs from September 2026 through Easter 2027, offering a rewarding opportunity to inspire students and deepen their love of language and literature.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
- Foster a love of literature, language, and writing through creative, inclusive teaching methods.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages discussion and independent thought.
- Collaborate with fellow English teachers and school staff to enrich the curriculum.
Required profile
- Proven experience as an English Teacher with a strong commitment to student development.
- Excellent subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English literature and language.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning styles.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
