Machine Shop Shift Lead - Triple Shift

About the role

The company is an international defence systems manufacturer seeking a CNC Machine Shop Shift Lead to oversee a three‑shift rotating pattern (nights, lates, earlies). The role ensures safety, efficiency and product quality while supporting a skilled, flexible workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safety standards on the shop floor, conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments.
• Lead the shift to meet production targets, run start‑of‑shift meetings and manage labour distribution.
• Oversee training needs, skills matrices and employee development.
• Administer timesheets, holidays, return‑to‑work interviews and performance reviews.
• Monitor daily machine operations, troubleshoot issues and coordinate rework.
• Control Kanban levels, hold weekly meetings with the Manufacturing Manager and report progress.
• Escalate maintenance matters and implement change directives.
• Facilitate root‑cause analysis sessions with manufacturing and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a CNC machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental (EHS) procedures.
• Ability to manage a multi‑skill team across rotating shifts.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
