Machine Shop Shift Supervisor (Heavy Engineering)

About the role
This permanent early‑shift position (6:00 am‑2:00 pm) leads a busy machine shop team within a historic heavy‑engineering manufacturer. You will remain hands‑on on the shop floor, supporting fault finding and production issues while driving continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support up to 15 machine‑shop operatives.
- Plan daily workloads to meet production and delivery targets.
- Provide hands‑on fault finding and production support.
- Liaise with Maintenance, Quality and Engineering teams.
- Maintain health & safety standards and drive continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Shift Supervisor or similar role in heavy engineering.
- Proven experience leading manufacturing teams and planning workloads.
- Hands‑on approach to fault finding and problem solving.
- Willingness to commute to Birmingham.
Required skills
- CNC
- IOSH certification
