Machinery Trainer – Technical Training for RNLI

About the role

An exciting opportunity to join the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as a Machinery Trainer, developing the knowledge and skills of volunteers and staff who operate and maintain RNLI equipment and lifeboats across the UK and Ireland.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging technical training sessions for crews and support staff.
• Produce new training materials and update existing documentation.
• Keep learners current with developments in the Search and Rescue (SAR) environment.
• Use practical engineering experience to help others diagnose faults, maintain equipment, and operate RNLI assets safely.

Required profile

• Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in operating, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing machinery.
• Valid driving licence and ability to meet RNLI medical and eyesight standards for sea‑going appointments.
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication abilities.
• Genuine passion for helping others learn and develop.
