Machinist – Aviation Repair Workshop

About the role

This is a hands‑on manual machinist position in a busy, expanding aviation repair workshop. You will operate a variety of machine tools to carry out repairs and manufacturing tasks on customer equipment, ensuring compliance with order specifications and technical data.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate lathes, mills, jig borers, grinders and other machine tools.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and approved technical data.
• Measure and inspect components using verniers, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision instruments.
• Complete machining, finishing and repair operations to required tolerances and surface finishes.
• Maintain accurate job records, test reports and documentation.
• Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery and tooling.
• Identify and report issues, suggest improvements and collaborate with colleagues.
• Comply with health, safety and quality procedures and keep the workshop organised.

• Experience measuring components with precision instruments.
• Commitment to maintaining accurate records and following safety procedures.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
