Maintenance Assistant – Care Home

About the role

As a Maintenance Assistant in a Barchester care home, you will help create safe, attractive environments that support high‑quality resident care. You will be responsible for keeping the building and its grounds in excellent condition, ensuring a positive first impression for visitors and a comfortable setting for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building fabric, fixtures, and equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
• Maintain outdoor areas, gardens, and pathways to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Report any major defects or health‑and‑safety concerns to senior maintenance staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience in property or facilities maintenance.
• Patient, caring attitude with a genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• Reliable, flexible and able to work independently on a variety of tasks.
