Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The role involves providing maintenance support within a retirement village in High Wycombe. You will ensure the property remains safe, functional and comfortable for residents by carrying out routine checks, repairs and a range of handy‑person tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cyclical, preventive and reactive maintenance across apartments and communal areas.
• Arrange and supervise contractor access for specialised works.
• Deliver handy‑person services such as picture hanging and flat‑pack furniture assembly.
• Manage void properties, conduct water‑quality checks and oversee general repairs.
• Work alongside contractors on‑site to deepen system knowledge and verify compliance with risk assessments.
• Record repair requests, log defects and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds, BTECs or NVQs.
• Training in health and safety, plumbing, plastering, carpentry or general maintenance.
• Strong numeracy, literacy and computer proficiency.
