Maintenance Builder – University Campus

About the role

This permanent position is based on a large university estate in Reading, delivering a wide range of building repairs and preventative maintenance across live campus facilities. The role offers a stable 36‑hour week, generous holiday entitlement and the chance to develop trade qualifications while working on diverse external and internal fabric projects.

Key responsibilities

• Road, pathway and paving repairs
• Brickwork, blockwork and small concrete repairs
• Drainage repairs, unblocking and minor excavation work
• Roofing, guttering, lead flashing and chimney repairs
• Door repairs, ironmongery, shelving, signage and general carpentry
• Basic plumbing repairs to sanitary ware, toilets, sinks and pipework
• Installation of wooden or concrete ramps and handrails
• General building fabric repairs across occupied campus buildings
• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
• Logging work, risk assessments and updates via CAFM system

Required profile

• General Builder, Multi‑Trade Operative or Building Fabric Technician
• Strong background in brickwork, drainage, roofing or external works
• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or time‑served equivalent
• Ability to work independently and manage varied repair work
• Professional, reliable and customer‑facing attitude
• Full UK driving licence

What we offer

• Salary £30,000‑£40,000 per year
• £4,500 call‑out bonus and £2,700 annual call‑out rota payment
• 42 days holiday (including bank holidays)
