Maintenance Electrician

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Electrician to join our facilities maintenance team at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow. The role offers a full‑time schedule (8 am‑4:30 pm) with the possibility of progressing from a temporary contract to permanent employment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms, air handling units, water, medical gas and pressure systems.
• Respond to breakdowns within SLA timescales to avoid penalties and service failures.
• Produce risk assessments and method statements to support permits‑to‑work.
• Complete work sheets, test certificates and task assessments (electronic and paper).
• Undertake Appointed Person (AP) roles for Electrical and Low Voltage systems.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rota and work overtime for installations, improvements and emergency repairs.
• Travel to other sites on an ad‑hoc basis as required.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contractors while maintaining tools and workshop areas.

Required profile

• Completed recognised electrical apprenticeship.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar electrical maintenance role.
• Competence with building service systems and equipment listed above.
• Sound technical knowledge to work safely and avoid hazards.
• Desirable: experience in hospital/healthcare maintenance, familiarity with Scottish Health Technical Memoranda, Permit‑to‑Work procedures, BSRIA guidance, Legionella and Pressure Systems Regulations, and current first‑aid/CPR training (training provided if needed).
