Maintenance Electrician (Prison Facilities)

About the role

Join Amey’s facilities management team supporting HMP Featherstone. You will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems across the prison, ensuring safety and compliance while working on a 39‑hour weekly rota.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance and associated administrative tasks.
• Diagnose faults and resolve electrical issues throughout the prison.
• Perform like‑for‑like replacements and minor electrical works, completing inspections and tests in line with BS7671.
• Maintain safe, compliant electrical systems to support a secure environment for staff and residents.
• Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person as required.
• Implement Health & Safety standards, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Undertake escort duties and other ad‑hoc tasks.

Required profile

• City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification (or equivalent).
• BS7671 18th Edition certification (or 17th Edition with upskilling).
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and planned maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, at heights and independently.
• Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (desirable).
• Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
• Basic IT competence.
• Willingness to obtain Prison Security Clearance (support provided).
