Maintenance Engineer – 12‑hour Shift at Markham Vale

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join the team at the Markham Vale site in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The role works a 12‑hour day shift on a rotating two‑week schedule, supporting safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant equipment while contributing to site performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance activities and support the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system.
• Maintain plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient and continuous operation.
• Follow all legal, regulatory and company engineering standards.
• Assist with installation and implementation of capital projects.
• Control and coordinate contractors on site.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance team to achieve objectives and drive continuous improvement.
• Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
• Observe risk assessments, permits and safe systems of work at all times.
• Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a processing or manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Good numerical, communication and reasoning skills.
• Willingness to develop knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices.

Required skills

• Experience with PLCs (desirable).
• Interpretation of electrical drawings.
• Interpretation of mechanical drawings.
