Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a leading food manufacturing facility in Bolton. You will be responsible for keeping plant and equipment running safely and efficiently while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and carry out safe, efficient repairs.
• Complete maintenance reports and documentation within required timescales.
• Participate in planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Assist with the development and full utilisation of the CMMS system.
• Mentor and support fellow team members as needed.
• Maintain strong working relationships with Production and other support departments.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, Health & Safety regulations, and Food Hygiene standards.
• Identify and implement productivity and labour‑saving improvements.
• Provide technical engineering support and training to line technicians.

Required profile

• Strong engineering knowledge gained within an FMCG maintenance environment.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to manage workload effectively.
• Multi‑skilled engineer holding ONC/NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in Maintenance Engineering.
• Good communication and IT skills.

Required skills

• CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) proficiency.
