Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a mechanically‑biased Maintenance Engineer to join our busy manufacturing operation in Winsford. You will work within a small, skilled team to keep modern production and packaging equipment running reliably and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and repair chains, belts, bearings, mechanical drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
• Service filling machines, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
• Support continuous‑improvement projects and machinery reliability initiatives.
• Respond to breakdowns, perform fault finding on automated equipment, and work safely following company procedures.

Required profile

• Time‑served Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical background.
• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in fast‑paced manufacturing environments such as FMCG, food, pharmaceutical or packaging.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

What we offer

• Salary up to £43,000 per annum.
• Day shift: Monday‑Thursday, 7:00 am‑5:00 pm with overtime paid at 1.5× on Fridays.
• 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
