Maintenance Engineer

About the role

This permanent position supports the production line in Sunderland, working a Monday‑Thursday day and night rotation. The Maintenance Engineer provides engineering solutions, monitors equipment, and assists with operational tasks to keep plant performance high.

Key responsibilities

• Attend the production line to deliver engineering solutions and operational assistance.
• Monitor machines and ancillary plant, maintaining log sheets.
• Follow up rectifications through effective communication with the engineering team and Plant Manager.
• Assist with cold starts, product changes, cleaning in place, and machine operation as required.
• Execute preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules; manage spare‑part requirements.
• Support installation work and assist contractors while adhering to site standards.
• Obtain necessary permits and departmental approvals before commencing work.
• Perform repairs and maintenance, ensuring a clean and safe workspace.
• Maintain guarding functionality and comply with safety regulations.
• Participate in training, skill development, and shift handovers.

Required profile

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably high‑volume.
• Electrical bias with relevant qualifications.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn new skills.
