Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a leading industrial organisation on a 6‑month contract in Leek. The role is day‑based and involves supporting routine and reactive maintenance within a highly regulated environment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine and reactive maintenance on plant equipment
- Perform pipefitting and mechanical maintenance tasks
- Conduct basic electrical fault‑finding and diagnostics
- Undertake function testing and signal checking
- Execute flange repairs and maintenance
- Isolate and maintain pumps and agitators safely
- Ensure all work complies with site safety and regulatory standards
- Support continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives
Required profile
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an industrial setting
- Strong background with pipework, pumps, vessels and flanges
- Basic electrical fault‑finding capability
- Experience with equipment isolation procedures (LOTO)
- Hands‑on experience in sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, FMCG, oil & gas, power generation or steel

What we offer
- £35 per hour (inside IR35 umbrella)
- 36.5‑hour work week
