Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturer of household brands. You will work on a range of automated production and packaging equipment, helping to maximise reliability and minimise downtime across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery.
• Respond to breakdowns and perform electrical and mechanical fault finding.
• Repair and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Record activities and manage assets using the site CMMS.
• Support reliability and continuous‑improvement projects to boost equipment performance.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure a safe, efficient environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing, production or FMCG.
• Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault‑finding abilities.
• Experience with PLC‑controlled automated machinery (Siemens, Allen Bradley or similar).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Apprentice‑trained, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification.
