Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical Services for Private Hospital

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a well‑established estates and engineering team supporting a prestigious private hospital in central London. You will ensure the safety, reliability and statutory compliance of critical mechanical infrastructure across a multi‑building estate.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant and systems.
• Diagnose and rectify faults through reactive maintenance.
• Maintain compliance with relevant statutory regulations and standards.
• Operate and monitor Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and emergencies as a first responder (training provided).
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, fabric and estates colleagues to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in mechanical building services or facilities maintenance.
• HNC/HND or Level 4/5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and water, and refrigeration systems.
• Understanding of safe systems of work and health & safety legislation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
