Maintenance Engineer – Packhouse (Canterbury)

About the role

Our client is looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to keep packhouse machinery running at peak performance. You will work in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment, ensuring equipment hygiene, reliability and compliance with high‑quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain machinery and equipment to high hygienic and operational standards.
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance tasks according to schedules.
• Complete required documentation and log all jobs in the computer system.
• Send end‑of‑shift handover emails and report defects to senior engineering staff.
• Keep the maintenance workshop compliant with BRC and customer audit standards.
• Safely cordon off work areas during engineering tasks.
• Provide flexible cover for the engineering team as needed.

Required profile

• Excellent attention to detail.
• Previous maintenance experience, preferably in food or fresh‑produce environments.
• Awareness of food safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.

What we offer

• Starting rate of £13.43 per hour plus overtime at £16.79 per hour.
• Two days off per week (Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday).
• Personal protective equipment provided (hi‑vis, hair nets, safety boots required).
