Maintenance Engineer – Rotating Days Shift

About the role

We are looking for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a highly automated manufacturing facility in Basildon. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance of specialist production equipment, with a strong emphasis on preventative work to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on high‑speed production lines.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities (approximately 60% of the workload).
• Diagnose and resolve faults in electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, control panels, sensors and drives.
• Maintain hydraulics and pneumatic circuits and ensure compliance with COMAH regulations.
• Use the CMMS to schedule work, record activities and support continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Level 3 engineering qualification or higher (apprentice trained or equivalent).
• Previous UK experience as a Maintenance Engineer.
• Multi‑skilled with an electrical or mechanical bias.
• Strong fault‑finding abilities across electrical and mechanical systems.

Required skills

• PLC fault finding and programming.
• Control panels, sensors and drives.
• Hydraulics and pneumatics.
• CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) usage.
• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
