Maintenance Handyman – Student Accommodation

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Maintenance Handyman to join a student accommodation portfolio in West London. This full‑time, temporary position involves handling a wide range of repair and upkeep tasks to ensure residents enjoy a safe and comfortable living environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service to residents and liaise with management.
• Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance across the property.
• Coordinate and monitor on‑site contractors, ensuring high‑quality workmanship.
• Perform scheduled inspections, including fire alarm, emergency lighting, fire extinguisher, and water‑hygiene checks.
• Conduct regular building patrols, identify safety risks, and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance documentation (gas safety, PAT testing, wiring certification) is up to date.
• Support the team with reception and administrative duties when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in general maintenance, particularly plumbing and/or electrical work.
• Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to take ownership of tasks.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Customer‑first attitude with good communication skills.
