Maintenance Operative – Liverpool (Temp, £15‑£17.5/hr)

About the role

Join a dynamic team in Liverpool as a Maintenance Operative. This temporary position offers a competitive hourly rate and the possibility of permanent placement. You will ensure the site remains safe, functional and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance and repair tasks across the building.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and site management.
• Perform basic plumbing work such as fixing leaks, unblocking sinks and replacing taps.
• Undertake minor electrical tasks, including changing light fittings and bulbs where authorised.
• Execute carpentry repairs, from adjusting doors to fixing furniture.
• Conduct painting, decorating and touch‑up work to maintain accommodation standards.
• Inspect communal areas and residential units on a routine basis.
• Support room turnaround during student move‑in and move‑out periods.
• Assist with health and safety checks and report larger issues to specialist contractors.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and keep tools and work areas tidy.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Operative, Caretaker, Handyperson or similar role.
• Good all‑round maintenance skills covering plumbing, carpentry, painting and general repairs.
• Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload and solve problems.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Understanding of health and safety practices in residential or commercial settings.
• Reliable, punctual and professional demeanor.
