Maintenance Operative – NHS Healthcare Facilities

About the role

As a Maintenance Operative you will work mobile across several hospital and healthcare sites between Swindon and Salisbury, delivering reactive and planned preventative maintenance to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out reactive repairs such as door and frame fixing, tap and washer replacement, and lock changes.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance including TMV servicing, lamp changes, fire door inspections and fire alarm testing.
• Install and repair cabinets, wall‑mounted units and other building fabric elements.
• Replace pipework, skirting, boxing and conduct sentinel checks.
• Participate in scheduled upgrade and refurbishment projects.

Required profile

• Experience working in a building or facilities maintenance role, preferably within a healthcare environment.
• Ability to work on a mobile basis, following health and safety procedures.
• Willingness to work standard hours (8 am‑5 pm, Mon‑Fri) and join an on‑call rota if required.
