Maintenance Operative – Residential Buildings

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Maintenance Operative to support our portfolio of residential apartment buildings in Liverpool. This full‑time, temporary position involves a mix of general repairs, routine safety checks and planned maintenance across communal areas.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general repairs and maintenance in communal spaces, including basic joinery, plumbing and decorating.
• Inspect buildings, identify safety concerns and report urgent or specialist issues.
• Perform routine fire alarm tests, fire‑door checks, emergency‑lighting inspections and verify escape routes.
• Operate and understand building systems such as fire panels, access control, intercoms, CCTV and smoke‑ventilation.
• Record all checks and maintenance work accurately in the job‑management system.
• Coordinate with contractors, provide site access and keep plant rooms and storage areas organised.

Required profile

• Previous experience in general maintenance, caretaking, facilities or building operative roles.
• Good practical fault‑finding skills and ability to follow testing procedures.
• Understanding of health and safety standards in occupied residential buildings.
• Reliable, organised and capable of managing own workload.
• Full UK driving licence; willingness to join an emergency call‑out rota.
