Maintenance Operative – Temporary 6‑Week Cover

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Maintenance Operative to provide temporary cover for a six‑week period at a site in Coventry. The role involves a variety of hands‑on maintenance tasks to keep the facilities safe, functional and presentable.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general handyman and maintenance tasks across the site.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing taps and unblocking drains.
• Undertake basic electrical work including replacing fittings, bulbs, switches and minor repairs.
• Execute painting and decorating duties, including touch‑ups and refurbishment.
• Assemble, repair and maintain furniture, fixtures and fittings.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and carry out repairs safely.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
• Support general site upkeep and ad‑hoc maintenance duties.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Operative, Handyman, Caretaker or similar role.
• Good all‑round maintenance skills with knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
• Reliable, punctual and able to start immediately.
