Maintenance Operative – Wet Room Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative specialising in wet‑room installations and floor layering to join a busy property services team in Stevenage. The role is initially temporary with the prospect of permanent employment, offering a stable 37‑hour week on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs, maintenance and refurbishment within residential properties.
• Install, repair and maintain wet‑room flooring systems, including cap and cove vinyl flooring, floor preparation, hot welding and finishing.
• Perform wet‑room adaptations, upgrades and ensure compliance with safety and accessibility standards.
• Complete associated wall finishes, minor tiling, sealing and making‑good work in bathrooms.
• Undertake general maintenance tasks such as basic carpentry, plumbing repairs, patching, plastering, flooring repairs and decorating.
• Diagnose faults, propose effective solutions and report additional repair needs after property inspections.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Maintenance, Multi‑Trade or Flooring Operative in a residential setting.
• Strong background installing and repairing cap and cove vinyl flooring and wet‑room flooring systems.
• Knowledge of floor preparation, latex screeding, tanking systems and wet‑room construction.
• Ability to work independently, manage a busy workload and deliver high‑quality workmanship.
