Maintenance Technician – CNC & Woodworking Machinery

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a reputable manufacturing brand in Sussex. You will be responsible for maintaining and optimising a range of woodworking machinery, ensuring maximum uptime, safe operation, and compliance with planned preventative maintenance schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise CNC processing centres, edge‑banding machines, panel saws and ancillary equipment.
• Implement and adhere to Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults, including PLC‑based controls.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation such as PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and LOTO.
• Work with vacuum, pneumatic systems, drives and inverters common to panel processing machinery.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship or equivalent trade qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or above) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience maintaining CNC or automated production machinery.
• Strong fault‑finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Hands‑on, self‑motivated and able to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Safety‑conscious with a solid understanding of relevant H&S regulations.
