Maintenance Technician – Rolling Stock (Training Provided)

About the role

Join Shorterm Group in partnership with Siemens Mobility as a Maintenance Technician on the Class 700 fleet. The role offers a structured training programme to develop expertise in rolling stock maintenance, ideal for experienced mechanical professionals seeking a career in rail.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance on passenger trains.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults, including brakes, pneumatics and wheelsets.
• Carry out vehicle examinations following Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs).
• Record all work in electronic maintenance systems and complete job cards.
• Operate lifting equipment, powered plant and mechanical handling tools safely.
• Collaborate with the Parts Department to source components and produce fault‑finding reports.

Required profile

• Experience in light vehicle, HGV, plant, industrial, aviation or military technical trades.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotating shifts (day and night) on a 5 on / 5 off pattern.
• Commitment to a minimum six‑month contract with potential for permanent placement.
