Maintenance Technician – Water Systems

About the role

Equans is seeking a Maintenance Technician specialised in water systems to join the facilities team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. This full‑time, permanent position involves both planned and reactive maintenance of critical water infrastructure within a healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, testing and breakdown repairs on water‑related plant and equipment.
• Maintain and service TMV units, water tanks, chlorine dioxide (CLO2) units, showers and water plants.
• Perform temperature checks and ensure water hygiene standards are met.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions without supervision.
• Produce reports, calculations and recommendations for efficient plant operation.

Required profile

• NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Heating/Vent/Plumbing.
• Legionella, TMV and disinfection awareness training.
• Desirable: Level 3 Heating/Vent/Plumbing, Water Hygiene qualification, HTM 04 RP/CP training, experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to pass a Standard DBS check.
