Male Teaching Assistant – SEN Support (1:1) for Year 4

About the role

We are seeking a caring and patient Male Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 4 pupil with autism in a welcoming primary school in Upton Park. The role starts in September 2026 and offers a long‑term, full‑time placement within a supportive teaching team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver dedicated 1:1 assistance to the pupil throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during transitions.
• Promote engagement, independence and positive behaviour while supporting access to the curriculum.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support plans.
• Build a trusting relationship with the pupil and maintain clear communication with staff.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism, is desirable.
• Previous role as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker is beneficial.
• Calm, nurturing and reliable with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
